Grassroots perspectives on climate change, from Asia to Europe
In the first half of 2007 my my family and I will be travelling through a number of countries from Asia to Europe. The focus is to document farmer wisdom on climate change from different places. We are going to film this journey and the encounters that we have with people.
Earthwise Consulting Limited projects
Earthwise Consulting Limited was formed in early 2001, drawing considerably on Gavin Kenny's previous work and experience. Since that time a number of projects within New Zealand have been completed, including:
- A review of likely impacts on New Zealand agriculture
- Climate change and land management in Hawke's Bay
- Co-authoring of a guidance note on climate change for local government
- Organic resource guides
- Adapting to climate change in eastern New Zealand
- Biotic effects of climate change in the Bay of Plenty
- Notes from my presentation at Te Papa, 8 August 2006 as part of the WWF 30th anniversary lecture series on the Business of Climate Change
- A background paper on adaptation prepared for the NZ Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment's sustainability review
- Phase 1 of an adaptation enabling project with Environment Bay of Plenty has been completed. This work involved engagement with Environment Bay of Plenty staff and with kiwifruit growers across the Bay of Plenty region. Reports from this work are not yet publicly available.
Consultancy and workshop facilitation
Since the early 1990s Gavin's work on climate chanage has covered research, capacity building, work in developed and developing countries, community engagement. He has a unique breadth and depth of experience in this regard that enables him to communicate both authoritatively and in a down-to-earth manner.
Gavin is available to do consultancy work on climate change and adaptation, to run workshops and to share his knowledge and expertise in developing community engagement programmes on adaptation.
